Stephen Herrington
In my horticultural career I have worked in many gardens across the country, all requiring different approaches, skills and techniques to manage and conserve their unique landscapes. I started my career in horticulture when I was 16 and since that time have gained qualifications and experience from several public gardens including RHS Wisley, Tresco, Nymans National Trust and the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. I have spent a number of years managing world renowned gardens and public green spaces in urban environments, often working in partnership with community groups, schools and volunteers on projects relating to biodiversity, education and community engagement, all of which has given me an appreciation of the importance of these spaces in people’s lives and the surrounding environment.
My most recent position is managing the formal gardens, woodland, productive gardens, and production nurseries at the Newt in Somerset where I am Head of Gardens. This has allowed me to be involved in a number of large-scale landscape design projects and planting projects, many of which relate directly to Landscape Management.
